The MTPA(Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency) has confirmed that one of the vagrant lions which were reported to have escaped from one of Parks has been successfully recaptured and held in a facility for proper management.

MTPA spokesperson, Simphiwe Shungube, said various stakeholders are conducting a joint search for the remaining lions which are still at large, to ensure safety for the Bushbuckridge villages including Lilydale, Huntington, Somerset, Ronaldsey, and Kildare.
“ Our Damage Causing Animals team, working with key stakeholders, is still on the ground tracking the other lions that are still at large. The public is advised to immediately inform MTPA should they spot them and must attempt to capture them. We would like to thank the public for their patience during this time and will inform you of any new developments in due course,” said Shungube
