Two Nigerian nationals, aged 42 and 44 years-old, were arrested and charged on allegations of practicing as Optometrists and dealing in drugs in White River on Friday 21 June.
The two suspects were reportedly charged for contravening the medicine and related substance Act 101 of 1965 and the Immigration Act 13 of 2002.

Mpumalanga spokesperson for the Hawks, Dineo Sekgotodi, said a search and seizure warrant was authorized and executed during a disruptive operation at the suspect’s place.
” During the search a firearm, 4 rounds and magazine were found and seized from the suspect’s car. A laboratory used to manufacture spectacles were found at his workplace. LCRC(Local Criminal Record Centre) services, required and summoned to capture the exhibits. The suspects failed to produce passports. The firearm will be sent to ballistic for confirmation as the subject claimed that it’s a blow gun,” said Sekgotodi.

She also said that the two suspects were detained pending their first court appearance at the White River Magistrate’s Court on Monday 24 June.
