A gruesome discovery of the body of a man that was burnt beyond recognition at Maphakama Sport Ground in Pienaar, on Monday 17 June, has led to a murder case being launched and investigated by the local police.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the police and paramedics were called to Lihawu in Pienaar where the body was found.
“ The victim is unknown at this point, hence police are searching for his family. His age could be between 25 and 27 years. The motive behind the killing is unknown at this stage however police will not leave any stone unturned as they hunt down perpetrators thereof,” said Mdhluli.
He said that circumstances surrounding the incident will form part of the investigation.
