Internationally-acclaimed Soprano sensation, Pretty Yende, from Mkhondo local municipality in Mpumalanga, will fly the South African flag very high during the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in England on Saturday, 6 May, where she’s scheduled to perform for a global audience.

Premier of Mpumalanga, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, said that Yende has an incredible gift of singing which will once again receive international validation.

” She is no stranger to singing before global audiences. Last year she performed at the Windsor Castle in England. We take pride in her incredible gift, which she uses selflessly to represent not just Mpumalanga province, but South Africa, as an ambassador,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.

The premier added that Yende is the 2013 recepient of the Silver Order of Ikhamanga and the Mbokodo award(in the soprano category), in recognition of her contribution to the arts and culture sector. She released two albums, A Journey and Dreams, in 2016 and 2017 respectively, as a testimony of her illustrious musical journey.

Mtshweni-Tsipane said that Yende will perform a Soprano piece called Sacred Fire, written by a British music producer for the coronation event, which will inspire the youth and avid fans of classical music.

” Yende will inspire a generation of singers to pursue a career in the classical music genre. We look forward to her home-return trip to inject her pioneering spirit to the youth of our province, through her incredible gift,” she said.
