Eskom employee, Zandile Rosemary Ngcobo(43), was released on R5000 bail by the Standerton magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
Ngcobo, who reportedly works as a procurement officer at Tutuka power station, was allegedly arrested for fraud, theft and money laundering, by the Hawks commercial crime investigation team based in Middleburg, working alongside Eskom investigators.
Spokesperson for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, captain Dineo Sekgotodi said; ” It is alleged that as a procurement officer, the accused(buyer) collided with the service provider Umnandi Services and submitted fraudulent documents, inflated the prices from R60 000 to R939 000, causing actual prejudice to Eskom,”
Sekgotodi also said that investigations continue and the case was postponed to 11 May, to be heard at the Middleburg specialised commercial crime court. Ngcobo will reportedly be joined with other accused in the matter.
