Five suspected drug dealers were arrested in Secunda and Bethal during a disruptive operation conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of law enforcement agencies.
The multi-disciplinary team comprising of the Secunda and Middleburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Department of Health, Secunda K9,Secunda CIG, Witbank Tactical Response, Secunda POP and White River K9, reportedly conducted a raid after a major investigation led to addresses where drugs are said to be manufactured and sold.
Mpumalanga spokesperson for the Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said a search and seizure warrant was authorised and executed, leading to the arrest and detention of a 70 year-old suspect after a drug lab, ammunition and firearms were found and seized at a farm.
The second suspect(40) was arrested and detained after processing equipment constituting a drug lab, 106 rounds of ammunition, 44 rounds of .38 special, 68 rounds of shot gun ammunition, 215 live rounds of .22 calibre and eleven 9mm rounds, magic mushrooms, computers and a dehydrator.
“ A third address in Secunda was searched and the following exhibits were seized; tables, loose and packaged magic mushrooms, sweets, 54 cookies Coco powder. A 32 year-old female suspect was arrested.
“ A fourth address in Secunda was searched. Dagga and magic mushrooms plants and chemicals were seized, and a 33 year-old suspect was arrested,”said Sekgotodi.
She added that dry cannabis weighing 1,560 kg, cannabis chewing gum and chocolates were seized, leading to the arrest and detention of a 35 year-old suspect.
“ The suspects will be charged and will appear before the Secunda Magistrate’s Court ,” said Sekgotodi.
