The South African National Parks (SANParks) says visitors to the Kruger National Park(KNP), during the upcoming Easter holidays, are urged to observe the rules of the park that are primarily intended to ensure a safe and pleasant experience.

SANParks Communication Officer, JP Louw, said KNP has started welcoming visitors for the Easter holidays and the number is expected to increase.

“ KNP recorded high occupancy rates, for both camping and accommodation, confirming the park’s place as a destination of choice for many. Gate quotas will be implemented for day visitors during Easter weekend and visitors are advised to book online ahead of their visit. Special attention is also drawn to operational times as it pertains to the quotas.

“ Plans for increased visibility of both traffic officials and visitor management personnel to monitor speeding, after-hours travelling and general behaviour on the roads are being implemented. Management is urging visitors to cooperate with officials who will be on duty and to report unbecoming behaviour to the gate officials or call the emergency call centre number in the entry permits,” said Louw.

He urged visitors to plan their trips and allow sufficient time to enjoy the bush, relax and arrive safely at their respective destinations.

“ Visitors are also urged not to tamper with road signage such as the removal of road closure signs, as such can pose a danger to other motorists who might enter prohibited parts of the park. Usage of roads on prohibited areas will result in the issue of fines. Visitors should consult reception and the gates for an updated information on road closures or visit our social media platforms,” said Louw.

The time slots for KNP visitors are scheduled as follows;

Time Slot 1: 06:00 to 08:00
Time Slot 2: 08:00 to 10:00
Time Slot 3: 10:00 onwards
