Global issuer processor Paymentology has announced a strategic partnership with South African technology company Byte Orbit to power Paystashio, an intelligent spend management platform engineered to streamline corporate expenditure for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The collaboration marries Paymentology’s advanced real-time issuer processing infrastructure with Byte Orbit’s deep-rooted fintech expertise. Together, the companies are delivering a unified solution that allows businesses to issue physical and virtual corporate cards, enforce granular spending limits, monitor live transactions, and automate the traditionally cumbersome expense reconciliation process.
Tackling the Administrative Burden
The launch arrives at a critical time as South African businesses increasingly embrace digital transformation to optimize financial workflows. According to Xero’s State of South African Small Business 2025 report, 40% of small businesses leveraging cloud technology cite administrative reduction and automation as key benefits, highlighting a surging market demand for operational efficiency tools.
Born out of Byte Orbit’s own operational hurdles—such as tracking down stray receipts, managing employee reimbursements, and spending hours manually matching line items—Paystashio is designed to eliminate these pain points. Leveraging nearly two decades of enterprise-grade software development experience, Byte Orbit has crafted a platform that balances employee autonomy with rigorous financial oversight.
Key platform features include:
-
Configurable Cards: Instant generation of physical and virtual employee cards with tailored spending rules enforced at the point of purchase.
-
Digital Receipt Capture: Mobile-friendly receipt uploading to eliminate paper clutter.
-
AI-Powered Reconciliation: Intelligent transaction categorization, auto-matching of supporting documentation, and seamless integrations with core accounting systems including Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks (coming soon).
Executive Perspectives
Commercial Manager at Byte Orbit Herman van Zyl, expressed the importance and shared experience on this new platform indicating that it is a good platform that id vast in all.
“Paystashio was born out of challenges we experienced ourselves, from chasing receipts to spending hours reconciling company expenses. We knew there had to be a better way. With Paymentology, we’re bringing payments, spending controls, and financial data together in one platform, giving employees greater freedom while helping SMEs spend less time on administration and more time growing their businesses”, Said Zyl.
Paymentology’s underlying processing technology plays a vital role by supporting real-time transaction authorizations and evaluating spending parameters instantly.
Regional Director for Africa at Paymentology , Kesheni Moodley, emphasized the broader economic impact.
“South African SMEs play a vital role in the economy, yet everyday financial administration can take valuable time away from running and growing a business. Byte Orbit is addressing this challenge with an intelligent, locally developed solution. By providing the processing technology behind Paystashio, we’re helping bring smarter business payments to market, giving SMEs greater control, flexibility, and room to grow”, said Moodley
Looking Ahead
While Paystashio’s initial rollout focuses squarely on South African SMEs, Byte Orbit plans to scale the platform into a comprehensive business payments ecosystem. Future roadmaps include introducing evolving financial capabilities based on customer feedback, alongside long-term aspirations for regional and geographic expansion.
