An incident occurred at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Mbombela, on 2 February 2026 at around 18:00pm, when a staff member reportedly lost control of their vehicle in the parking lot and crashed into the Oxygen tank that supplies oxygen to patients.
Patients in nearby wards were reportedly evacuated after noticing Oxygen that was leaking from a tank.
According to the Mpumalanga Department of Health, a technician was dispatched and managed to turn off the Oxygen supply from the tank. The Oxygen backup was also reportedly activated.
“ The Department also ordered about 60 Oxygen
cylinders which were delivered last night to ensure that there is enough supply for all patients.There were no injuries nor safety issues from patients, staff and staff only the driver of
the car sustained minor injuries, she has since been discharged from the hospital.” said the Department of Health.

The damage caused by collision was reportedly fixed, and the damaged machine was
