The high rate of crime in Mpumalanga has become a serious concern not only to the woman and men in Blue but also to vast community members .

Unlicenced firearms through a number of communities within the province where they end up used for a number of crimes.

The Mpumalanga Serious and Violent Crime Unit managed to  arrested three male suspects  in possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition on Friday 5 July at Kabokweni.

The suspects, aged between 32 and 35 years of age, were reportedly nabbed in the early hours of the morning after police received information on their whereabouts.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the three men are alleged to be involved in various crimes including robberies recently committed in the province. This includes their possible involvement in a recent farm attack on Thursday 4 July, in Kaapsehoop, where firearms and ammunition were stolen during a house robbery.

“ During the arrests, police recovered high-calibre firearms, pistols, rifles, firearm silencers as well as ammunition. The firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they were not used to commit crime elsewhere and more charges could possibly be added against the suspects as the investigation continues,” said Mdhluli.

The three men will appear at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday 8 July, charged with possession of firearms and ammunition, including other related charges.
