Four men appeared at the Carolina Magistrate’s, facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen stock.
The suspects, identified as Sibusiso Themba Maseko(32), Sandile Treasure Simelane(33), Fanfikile Elmon Maseko(38) and Nhlanhla Gordon Manda, were reportedly arrested in the early hours of Monday (4 March) and made their first court appearance later on the same day
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said information revealed that a stock owner from a certain farm in Groenvei opened a case of theft on 3 March, after four sheep valued at about R13000 were stolen.
“ An investigation led the team of men and women in blue from Carolina with their counterparts from Elukwatini Stock Theft Unit, to two suspects. Further investigation revealed that the cattle were sold.
“ This Information led to the arrest of two more suspects. These two were also charged for possession of suspected stolen stock,” said Mdhluli.
The case was reportedly postponed to 6 March for further investigation and all four suspects remain in custody.
