Blessing Fakude who is on the run from police

A warrant of arrest was reportedly issued by the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday 22 April 2024, for Blessing Fakude, who is allegedly linked to the murder of a 44 year-old off-duty police officer, Captain Sibusiso Mthombothi.
Mthombothi reportedly lost his life during a shootout at a car wash in Kanyamazane, outside Nelspruit, on Saturday 13 January 2024.
Mpumalanga spokesperson for the Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said Fakude’s co-accused, identified as Jacky Sibusiso Ntiwane Maseko(35) was arrested in Kanyamazane on Wednesday 20 March 2024 and made his first court appearance on 22 March 2024, whereby his case was postponed to 4 April 2024.
“ The team comprising of Nelspruit Crime Intelligence, Provincial Tracking Team and Tactical Response Team, approached the house of the accused (Maseko), who was known to be armed in the early hours at about 2:00 am. The accused was cornered, arrested and appeared in court facing charges of murder.
“ The case was postponed to Thursday 4 April for a bail application. During the appearance, he abandoned the bail for his own safety. The case was further postponed to 10 May 2024 for further investigation. The accused remains in custody,” said Sekgotodi.
