It was a normal school day for a group of learners at Matikwane Primary School, in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, but it ended with new uniforms, quiet smiles, and a reminder that someone in government is paying attention.
On behalf of Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu, a team from the Office of the Premier, accompanied by Mpumalanga MEC for Health, Sasekani Manzini, visited the school to hand over school uniforms to learners identified as deserving and in need.
MEC Manzini said investing in the education of young people and creating a conducive environment for them to thrive remains one of the fundamental principles articulated in the Freedom Charter, which states that the doors of learning and culture shall be opened.
“We handed over school uniforms to deserving and needy learners in an effort to inspire them to pursue their dreams with confidence and dignity, while reaffirming that government remains committed to caring for the people and investing in their future.
“As the servants of the people of Mpumalanga under the stewardship of Premier Mandla Ndlovu, we remain steadfast in ensuring that no one is left behind, because Mpumalanga is a province that works for all,” said MEC Manzini.
The MEC commended the school community for its dedication and continued commitment to nurturing future generations and contributing towards building a prosperous and inclusive South Africa founded on hope, discipline and opportunity.
