A delegation of exhibitors, led by Mpumalanga MEC for DEDT(Department of Economic Development and Tourism), Makhosazane Masilela, will participate in the 2025 Africa’s Travel Indaba to be held in Durban(KwaZulu-Natal Province) from 12 to 15 May 2025.

The Mpumalanga delegation, which features representatives from various departments, tour operators, municipalities and the hospitality industry, will reportedly have a dedicated area called the Mpumalanga Village, to showcase its tourism products and attractions. This opportunity is expected to promote Mpumalanga as a premier destination of choice.

The Africa’s Travel Indaba is reportedly preceded by a dedicated BONDay(Business Opportunity Networking Day) to provide a platform for thought leadership, knowledge sharing and obtaining the latest global trends as well as local insight.

The BONDay programme is said to be developed in close collaboration with global tourism organisations, continental experts and industry associations.

In expressing her excitement for the three-day event, MEC Masilela said the Indaba is an iconic Africa leisure trade show hosted by South African Tourism, with the aim of developing the market for a wide range of African leisure tourism products.

“ Mpumalanga Province is number two in terms of international tourist arrivals and our aim is to become number one. Without a doubt, this Indaba presents the province with an opportunity to showcase its offering in as far as tourism is concerned,” said MEC Masilela.

She said the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency(MTPA), which is a parastatal of the DEDT tasked with the responsibility of promoting the province, has been doing an outstanding job so far and it will use the Indaba to meet various stakeholders to further cement its noble role of drawing more tourists to the province.

MTPA Acting CEO, Justus Mohlala, said Mpumalanga’s uniqueness for offering natural products, will undoubtedly leave both continental and international tourists in awe.
