The MEC for health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini, will conduct a hospital Open Day at Matibidi district hospital (Thaba Chweu local municipality) scheduled to start from 10:00 -15:00 on 21 April. The event is reportedly aimed at sharing information about services that are provided in the hospital, also to interact with community members.
Manzini conducted a similar event at Tonga hospital in Nkomazi local municipality on 13 April. She was accompanied by traditional leadership, ward councillors, organised labour and senior managers led by the newly appointed head of department(HOD) Dr LK Ndhlovu.
A statement released by the department, via its social media platform, revealed that members of the community of Tonga came in numbers to raise their challenges with the hospital, while other members complimented the good work that is done by some doctors and the nursing staff.
” The MEC was disappointed to hear that there are officials that do not treat patients correctly. She instructed the provincial office to come to the hospital and investigate matters raised and those found guilty, disciplinary action should be taken.
“The MEC instructed the hospital CEO and the hospital board not to wait for another Open Day to attend to the complaints of the community. The MEC thanked the community for raising their frustrations openly and frankly,”
