A 45-year-old woman from Siyabuswa in KwaMhlanga, identified as Flatty Sk
osana, has been arrested following the deaths of her 69-year-old mother(Nobanyazile Rosina Masanabo), and her uncle(Josias Masanabo). The suspect was reportedly arrested on 9 April 2025 and charged for murder as well as defeating the ends of justice.
The investigation into the two deaths reportedly began in February 2025 when Josias Masanabo went missing, and his sister, Nobanyazile Rosina Masanabo, reported him missing  to the police.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lt-Col Jabu Ndubane, said the 69-year-old victim’s body was later found in one of the backrooms of her residence, leading to an inquest docket being opened to uncover the cause of her death.
An investigation by the Siyabuswa Detectives, which included interviews with a few people, reportedly led to evidence that pointed to the daughter (Flatty Skosana) as the prime suspect.
“ It is alleged that she(Skosana) orchestrated the murder of her mother as well as her uncle, Josias Masanabo, whose body was retrieved and identified after it was found buried in the bushes at KwaMhlanga. It was during this time when a murder case, with an additional charge of defeating the ends of justice, was registered. The motive for the two murders forms part of police investigation,” said Lt-Col Ndubane.
The suspect appeared before the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court on Friday 11 April 2025, and the case was postponed to 22 April 2025 for further investigation.
