“ The right(to vote) was hard-earned by those who fought and even died for it. Don’t take it for granted”.

These were the words by Mpumalanga MEC for Education, Bonakele Majuba, as he encouraged learners who are eligible to vote to register for the upcoming 2024 National and Provincial General Elections.

Majuba spoke to learners during his recent visit to Khayalami Secondary School in Siyathuthuka Location at Emakhazeni.

“ We wish to encourage all learners who are 17 years and older to use this time to register to vote. It is your responsibility to participate in shaping our nation’s future.

“ Please work with the IEC(Independent Electoral Commission), as they have visited your school today. Go to the polls and vote,” said Majuba.

Learners were taken through the voter education protocols by IEC representative, Nompumelelo Khaba, who also explained the significance of democracy.
