The pollution and waste management unit, which falls under the department of agriculture rural development, land and environmental affairs (DARDLEA) in Mpumalanga, has announced another group of 63 ZIP (Zonda Insila Programme) participants, from areas such as Umjindi, Kanyamazane, Pienaar, Kabokweni and Hazyview.
The group will reportedly focus on changing trash into treasure, while creating awareness on the benefits of proper disposal of waste, for both the environment and human health in their respective areas.
” The new appointees have been encouraged by outgoing ZIP participants, like the Kanyamazane-based Imvelo Recyclers, who are now continuing with the recycling business on their own.
” They must put focus on identifying illegal dumping, discourage littering and encourage proper disposal, while making money from recycling,” said DARDLEA in a statement.
