The National Coronavirus Command Council is expected to meet on Sunday in assessment on developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the country’s national response.
The Council’s deliberations come towards the end of a two-week period during which the country has implemented its Alert Level 4.
The meeting will be followed by meetings of the President’s Co-ordinating Council and Cabinet.
South Africa has recorded 22 443 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 2 157 687.
Gauteng continues to lead on the cases, having recorded 11680 infections overnight.
The country has also recorded 374 new COVID-19 related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 63 873.
An increase of 869 hospital admissions has also been reported, with recoveries standing at 1 884 170.
