Two Mozambican nationals, identified as Bheki Lubisi(30) and Eusebio Nhar(46), were denied bail by the Middleburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 9 April, after they were arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle.

The two suspects are allegedly linked to the theft of a blue Ford Ranger at a house in Middleburg in the early house of Sunday morning, 7 April.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, police received information on the whereabouts of the vehicle which was reportedly traced at Uitkyk Village informal settlements.

“ Police found two suspects that were already apprehended by community members. Fortunately enough, the vehicle, which was positively identified by the owner was also found at the scene. Both suspects were nabbed and charged with possession of suspected stolen property,” said Mdhluli.

He said that Nhar was further charged for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa, after he failed to produce valid documentation to be in the country. The Department of Home Affairs is reportedly working closely with the police.

“ At this stage, police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects, as investigation continues. The arrest of the two suspects will possibly encourage community members to work collaboratively with the police in the fight against crime,” said Mdhluli.

The case against Lubisi and Nhar was reportedly postponed to 16 April and they remain in custody, pending police investigation.
