The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has stepped up oversight of a major march planned for next week, with Premier Mandla Ndlovu instructing organisers to submit a detailed plan to law enforcement before the end of this month.
Premier Ndlovu and organisers of the widely-popularised forthcoming demonstration met at the Nkangala District Municipality to engage on the planned march scheduled to take place in Mpumalanga and across South Africa on 30 June 2026.
The Premier was accompanied by the MEC for DCSSL(Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison), Jackie Macie, Executive Mayor of Nkangala District Municipality, Thomas Ngwenya, as well as senior government officials and law enforcement authorities.
According to the Provincial Government, following the engagement, the organisers will submit a detailed plan ahead of the march.
Furthermore, the engagement reportedly forms part of the Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all public gatherings and demonstrations are conducted in accordance with the law, while promoting peace, stability and public safety.
“The plan will be shared with law enforcement agencies to assist in coordinating an appropriate response and will help ensure transparency regarding the planned activities, route and logistics of the march,” the Mpumalanga Provincial Government said.

The Premier reportedly called on organisers to ensure that the march remains peaceful, lawful and safe at all times, emphasising that the safety of participants, residents and businesses across the province remains a key priority for the Provincial Government.
The Premier also reportedly urged the organisers to isolate extortionists who swindle innocent people their money using the planned march as a ploy to protect them.
“The Provincial Government remains committed to upholding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly while working closely with all stakeholders to safeguard public order, community safety and the wellbeing of residents and visitors across the province,” the Provincial Government stated.
Organisers have reportedly committed to working with government and law enforcement to ensure the march proceeds within the bounds of the law.
The Provincial Government has reportedly welcomed this cooperation as a further step toward a peaceful and orderly demonstration.
The planned march has reportedly generated significant public interest, making continued engagement between government, law enforcement agencies and organisers essential to ensuring that the event proceeds peacefully and without disruption to communities, businesses and economic activity.
With Nkangala District serving as a key economic hub, authorities are prioritising route planning and crowd management to limit impact on the N4 corridor, mines, and local businesses.
