Caption: Athletes gearing up for the Marathon

Road runners in Mpumalanga are preparing for the Barberton Makhonjwa 4 in 1 Marathon scheduled to take place on 28 September.
The marathon was officially launched and the 2024 jersey was also unveiled by Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency(MTPA) in conjunction with Bellas Athletics Club, Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality and Ehlanzeni District Municipality, at Paradise Cove in Barberton on Thursday 15 August.
According to a statement by MTPA, the marathon which will be divided into 4 categories(42km, 21km, 10km and Fun Run), is expected to attract more participants.
“ The race will start at the Bulembu Border in the Kingdom of Eswatini and finish at Coronation Park Barberton. It is expected that the successful hosting of this event will create more jobs, boost the local economy and attract more tourists to the place of the rising sun,” said MTPA.
