A new WARD (Women in Agriculture and Rural Development) leadership structure was elected in Ehlanzeni district, at the Barberton Environmental centre. The new members will reportedly serve a five-year term.
According to a statement released by Mpumalanga DARDLEA(Department of agriculture rural development, land and environmental affairs), WARD is an organisation aimed at creating opportunities for previously disadvantaged women in farming.
The newly elected committee members are:
Chairperson – Ester Mhlongo
Deputy chairperson – Thandi Mokoena
Secretary – Busi Sibiya
Deputy secretary – Shirley Mabuza
Treasurer – Julia Shubunge
Doreen Mathebula, Colile Dlamini and Melita Mathebula, were elected as additional member.
