The soccer fraternity at large is in mourning following the passing of Alex Shakoane, who is regarded as the longest serving communicatios manager at Mamelodi Sundowns. The club announced Shakoane’s passing last night.
Shakoane is hailed as a staunch, loyal servant and supporter of Masandawana. His involvement with the team dates back to its formative years in the 1970’s.
Sundowns chairman, Tlhopie Motsepe said;
” The Motsepe family, Board, supporters and all the members of the Mamelodi Sundowns family mourn and are deeply saddened by the passingof Alex “Goldfinger” Shakoane. Bra Alex’s life was all about Mamelodi Sundowns and we will miss his unique contribution and larger than life personality. Our thoughts are and prayers are with the Shakoane family, his friends and all Masandawana,” he said.
Motsepe added that further details regarding the memorial and funeral service will be announced in due course.
” Alex Shakoane will forever live in the hearts and minds of all Masandawana,” he said.
