The clinic in Hazyview, which serves about 36 nearby farms and the town in general, received an unannounced visit by Mpumalanga health MEC, Sasekani Manzini, on Monday.
According to the department of health, the MEC engaged with patients to enquire if they were satisfied with the services and if they don’t wait too long before being attended.
The operational manager at Hazyview clinic, sister Sinna Makhatshwa, told the MEC that the availability of medical stock is at 97%. Makhatshwa also expressed concern about patients from nearby villages who spend money to come to Hazyview clinic to collect medication while abandoning their local facilities.
MEC Manzini enquired if the patients from nearby villages were experiencing some challenges in their local clinics. She noted that Hazyview clinic is in town, therefore encouraged patients to use their local health facilities to avoid high costs of travelling.
She furthermore said that patients must be given medication to last for 6 months. Manzini also said that she is impressed with the operation of Hazyview clinic and commended the work of health care workers and the services they provide to the community.
