The SANDF(South African National Defence Force) has confirmed that an incident occurred at the Macadamia Military Base, near Komatipoort, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers.
Speaking on behalf of the SANDF, Rear Admiral Prince Tshabalala , said preliminary information reveals that one soldier allegedly stabbed two of his colleagues.
“ The SANDF expresses its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased members. This is a deeply painful moment for the organisation and the military community at large,” said Tshabalala.
He said an investigation is currently underway, carried out by the SANDF in conjunction with the SAPS(South African Police Service) to determine the circumstances that might have led to the tragic incident.
“ We appeal to the public and the media to allow the investigative processes to unfold without speculation, and to respect the dignity and privacy of the affected families during this difficult time,” said Tshabalala.
