Five former Department of Community Safety security liaison employees and One Mbombela official appeared before the Mbombela magistrate court on 600 charges which amongst them included theft and Money Laundering resulting to R60 000 000.

Departmental officials ,Thembi Millicent Motlohi (43), Allman Thabani Masuku (35), Xoliswa Celia Ngcekwane (52),
Nompulelo Winnie Nxumalo (44), Agnes Nosipho Ndzinisa (54) and Mbombela Registry authority Nkosinathi Samuel Gumede (37) were arrested by the Hawks Nelspruit based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in a joint operation with Road Traffic Management Corporation ( RTMC), National Traffic Anti-Corruption Unit ( NTACU) and Special Investigation Unit ( SIU) on Monday 18 July.

According to information at the hawks disposal state that during December 2018 information was received by the Hawks from SIU about the employees who were extending the expired vehicle discs to the owners of the vehicles. The case was opened by the Hawks for further investigation.

Spokesperson for Hawks in Mpumalanga Captain Dineo Sekgotodi confirmed the arrests.

“The accused appeared before the Nelspruit Commercial Crime Court on Monday, 18 July 2022 and they were released on R15 000.00 (Fifteen thousand rand ) bail each and the case was postponed to 29 September 2022 for further investigation. More arrest is imminent”,she said.
