ANC Councillor at Mangweni ,Nkomazi that was shot

A case of murder and robbery is under investigation by the police in Tonga,  following the fatal shooting of a 35 year-old councillor at Mangweni, Komatipoort, on Tuesday evening of 2 April.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli,four men wearing balaclavas stormed into the councillor’s home, shooting the deceased twice while his wife was assaulted in the process. The suspects allegedly fled the scene after robbing the victims of their cellphones as well as a charcoal Toyota GD-6 bakkie.
“ The male victim was taken by a private transport to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The motive for the killing is not yet established. No one has been arrested as yet and the police are hard at work to ensure that the suspects are sought and apprehended,” said Mdhluli.
He also said that a team of experts has been assembled to investigate and trace the suspects, under the leadership of Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt-General Semakaleng Manamela.
