Sidell said September is recognised globally and nationally as Tourism Month, culminating in World Tourism Day on 27 September.
“We want South Africans to travel more, stay longer and spend locally. We also want to showcase our established attractions while bringing greater attention to the many emerging destinations and tourism products across the province. Our message this September is therefore simple: Discover Mpumalanga,” MEC Sidell added.
He added that various campaigns have been put into effect around the province to educate people about the importance of protecting tourists.

According to Sungube, safety is not just talk, it’s cameras, boots on the ground and partnerships.
“We have also installed surveillance cameras in strategic attractions, working together with the private sector, the SAPS (South African Police Service) for visible patrolling,” Shungube said.
With its wildlife, dams, mountains and culture, Mpumalanga is positioning itself as a destination for all seasons, and for all budgets.
