Members of the executive council(MEC’s), led by premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, visited communities around Govan Mbeki local municipality on a two-day outreach programme.
The first day of the visit included a sitting by the executive council, convened by the premier at the municipality offices, a visit to Sasol-extended power sub-station. The EXCO also visited a youth-owned clothing and printing project called Black Child Embroidery, in Leandra, which is led by 29 year old-Sihle Ngwenya. The printing project is said to be funded by the premier’s youth development fund(PYDF).
According to a statement released by the provincial government spokesperson, George Mthethwa, the visit is aimed at monitoring and giving feedback on the service delivery programmes by the provincial government.
” This will be the second outreach programme by the Mpumalanga provincial government in this financial year to visit and address issues affecting communities in the province. The provincial government has implemented a variety of service delivery projects and programmes throughout the province, in its efforts to uplift communities for a better life.
” Outreach programmes are vital for the assessment of the state of service delivery. As such the focus will be on Govan Mbeki local municipality, to achieve this purpose,” said Mthethwa.
Mtshweni-Tsipane and the MEC’s will conclude their visit by conducting an Imbizo at Embalenhle stadium(Secunda)on Thursday, whereby the local residents will be granted an opportunity to express service delivery concerns and their overall sentiments about the work done by the provincial government.
