People in the rural and urban areas must have equal access to EMS services(emergency medical service) to their satisfaction. This is according to the head of department at Mpumalanga department of health, Dr Lucas Ndhlovu.
He was speaking at a meeting held alongside EMS managers, deputy director general clinical services-Dudu Mdhluli, chief director hospital services-Mpho Mogale and director EMS, whereby views were shared on measures to improve the provision of emergency medical services in the province.
” There must be equitable (EMS) healthcare services for all, regardless of the different geographic location. We need to serve our people with diligence,” said Dr Ndhlovu.
The department of health reported that discussions were held on challenges to work on and improve, such as the poor response time, lack of urgency and lack of accountability. In addition, all parties at the meeting adopted a comprehensive action plan.
” The meeting decided on the resulting that; having regular staff meetings to review operational plans, adequate allocation of resources to improve working environment for the employees and boost team members morale. Debriefing was also marked as a priority going forward and pyschological support,” said the department of health in a statement.
