A R25 million state-of-the-art day care centre and hall, was handed over to the village of Sikhululiwe, in Steve Tshwete local municipality, by Mpumalanga MEC for human settlements-Speed Mashilo.
The new structure reportedly boasts facilities such as 1280 square metre hall which can accommodate about 600 people, a 307 square meter day care centre with three classrooms, waiting area, reception, a wash room and a sickbay. The day care centre will reportedly be operated by the department of social development. Additionally, the department said that the structure will be used for social, cultural activities, community meetings, amongst others.
” I want to plead with the community to take ownership of these facilities and safeguard them against vandalism,” said Mashilo.
The MEC was accompanied by the executive mayor at Steve Tshwete local municipality, Mhlonishwa Masilela, and other dignitaries.
