Mpumalanga Health MEC,Sasekani Manzini, continued her commitment to monitor the recovery process of school learners who survived a horrific road accident and sustained injuries when their school bus reportedly collided with a train on the R104 Road near Mafube Village, between Wonderfontein and Arnot, on 31 July.

Manzini visited Emalahleni and Middleburg Hospitals where the kids are receiving treatment for their injuries.

“ We can confirm that 9(learners) are still admitted, of which 5 are still in Middleburg Hospital, 3 are in Emalahleni Hospital and 1 is at Steve Biko Hospital. Out of the 9, we can say that 7 are stable but we have 2 critical learners, and we believe that they will recover very soon based on the necessary care that they are receiving,” said Manzini.

Six learners unfortunately lost their lives in the accident which is still subject of police investigation.
