An increased number of tourists visited Mpumalanga during the 2025 festive season as compared to previous years, which is a significant milestone that reflects the spirit of unity, warmth and pride in the province.

This is according to the MTPA(Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency) as it acknowledged the collective efforts by its strategic partners including the SAPS(South African Police Service), private sector and various tourism stakeholders for playing a vital role in ensuring an incident-free festive season.

MTPA Acting CEO(Chief Executive Officer) of MTPA, Lemmy Mdluli, said the entity and its stakeholders created a safe and welcoming environment for visitors who chose Mpumalanga as the preferred tourist destination.

A Tourism Safety Strategy was reportedly implemented by the MTPA in an effort to achieve and sustain safety across the province. Safety tips were also provided to tourists to assist them when needed.

“We would like to thank all our tourists for choosing Mpumalanga as their preferred tourist destination and encourage them to regard our province as their second home away from home,” said Mdluli.

He said the MTPA continues to prioritise the safety of tourists while effectively marketing Mpumalanga as a preferred tourism destination.
