The family of the late former South African Deputy President, David “DD” Mabuza, has announced the details relating to his memorial service and funeral.
Speaking on behalf of the Mabuza family, Desmond Moela confirmed that Mabuza will be laid to rest this coming weekend, as previously communicated.
Moela said Mabuza’s funeral service will be held at Hoërskool Bergvlam in Nelspruit(City of Mbombela) on Saturday 12 July 2025.
He also said that a private family service will follow the official funeral service, where Mabuza will be laid to rest.
“ We would like to extend our gratitude to all South Africans for their support and condolences, which have strengthened us during this difficult time. We invite those who wish to pay their last respects to attend the memorial services that will be held in their respective regions. The venues for these services will be announced in due course,” said Moela.

He said the memorial services will afford the people of Mpumalanga the time and platform to pay tribute to the iconic Mabuza. Moela furthermore said the family is strengthened by the daily visits from various members of the community, including leaders from all over Mpumalanga, and South Africa as a whole.
We however, put our sincere condolences to the Mabuza family and the entire people, especially people of Mpumalanga Province where he was born and raised. During times like these, we direct everything to the Almighty God who is the creator of everything on earth. ” Hamba kahle qabani, uyilwile impi yakho kulomhlaba, okusele okwakho nomdali wakho, sohlala sikukhumbula njalo” .
Thank you so much Mr Phakathi for the wise words, indeed Mr Mabuza will be remembered not only by those close to him alone but also the nation as a whole.
