The police are urging members of the community to assist with any information to help identify the human remains discovered at Tjakastad(KaMalahleka),near Elukwatini, on Tuesday 21 January 2025.
The discovery was reportedly made by a Herder at around 16:30, who informed the Induna/Headman in the area, and police were subsequently called to the scene.
“ Upon arrival, police discovered what appeared to be a human skull and a detached torso. Only the right arm was present, but the hand(palm) was missing. The left arm and both legs were not located at the scene,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lt-Col Jabu Ndubane.
The police urged anyone with a missing family member to report to the nearest police station immediately.
“ There’s no waiting period for reporting a missing person. Family members should report as soon as they realise that someone is missing or suspect that something may have happened to them,” said Lt-Col Ndubane.
Furthermore, members of the public are requested to contact Detective Sergeant Vusi Nkosi on 0713747759 or 0829780396 should they have any information that may assist the investigation.
“ Alternatively, community members can call the Crime Stop number at 0860010111 or submit information via the MYSAPSAPP. All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and callers may remain anonymous,” said Lt-Col Ndubane.
