An alleged cash-in-transit suspect, Trevor Masuku(32) from Pienaar-in Mbombela, was remanded in custody following his appearance at the Kabokweni magistrate’s court on Friday.

Mpumalanga spokesperson for the HAWKS, Dineo Sekgotodi, said that Masuku was arrested by the Neslpruit senior organised crime investigation in collaboration with crime intelligence and private security on Wednesday in Nelspruit.

” The arrest of Masuku followed after the police received information from crime intelligence about a wanted suspect in connection with a cash-in-transit, robbery and attempted murder case which occured in Hazyview, Shabalala Trust, during May 2023.

” It is further alleged that on the day in question, an undisclosed amount of cash and firearms were robbed from G4S security officers. Suspects armed with AK47’s blew up the AV(armoured vehicle) with explosives and robbed it,” said Sekgotodi.

Masuku will reportedly return to court on 19 July for formal bail application.
