A historic musical moment was engraved in the minds of music lovers across South Africa, particularly in Mpumalanga province, when Thabo Ndlovu(24), from Emalahleni, won the farewell finals of Idols SA season 19 on Saturday, in Randburg-Gauteng province.
Ndlovu went head to head for the highly contested title against the extraordinarily talented Princess MacDonald(24), who also hails from Mpumalanga in Bushbuckridge. MacDonald scooped the second place.

Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, attended the grand finale to show support towards the two music ambassadors from the province. She said that Ndlovu’s victory will be remembered for many years to come, as he has added his name to the list of musical greats around the country.
” We congratulate Thabo for winning such a coveted music accolade in the history of Idols SA. He represents dozens of young people in our province, who are standing on the edges, to prove their talents,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.

The Premier equally congratulated MacDonald for representing the province well throughout the tough competition.
” She too is a winner because her hard work and dedication has brought her to the second position. This shows she has what it takes to be a winner. The fact that two of the contestants in the finale are from Mpumalanga, as well as three of the previous winners, is evidence enough that we are a province with musical DNA. Ndlovu, just like his predecessors, has nailed the colours of Mpumalanga to the mast,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.
Ndlovu joins other previous Idols SA winners from Mpumalanga such as Karabo Mogane, Musa Sukwene and Zama Khumalo.
