In a bid to strengthen hospital and health system performance through leadership and management development, the Clinton Health Access Initiative(CHAI), led by Dr. Terrence Carter, hosted an introductory session on 10 and 11 April 2025, as part of collaboration requested by the National Department of Health.
According to the Department of Health in Mpumalanga, the session marked the launch of an 18-month support programme for Rob Ferreira Hospital, Witbank Hospital and KwaMhlanga Hospital.

The Department added that the CHAI team was warmly welcomed and expressed enthusiasm for the programme.
“ To support this goal, a cohort of experienced mentors with extensive background in the health systems strengthening has been engaged. These mentors will also contribute to the development of the National Hospital Strategy, ensuring alignment with best practices in leadership, governance, and service delivery.
“ The Department is fully committed to ensuring the initiative’s success and is optimistic about its long-term impact in hospital performance and patient care throughout the province,” said the Department.
