MEC for Culture Sports and Recreation in Mpumalanga, Thandi Shongwe has declared readiness to host SATMAS in Mpumalanga. Speaking on the SATMA 2021 Launch and Announcement of Nominees ceremony held at The Winkler in white river, Shongwe said the province as well as her department together with the SATMA organizers is ready in giving Mpumalanga people a talk of town event in November.
” Such an event contributes to our economy, environment, social and cultural aspirations, it also helps us as a department to take up social cohesion. Music did not start today but has been there for years back from the bible we will remember that David would play hub and praise his king.
I am proud and to say that our province is ready to host the second phase of the SATMA awards which is expected to be an extravaganza event. Our preparations are in high standard which has never been seen before, we hope that on the 27 November on the day of the SATMA awards Mpumalanga residents will love this”, she said.
Shongwe has further asked artists within the Province to Vaccinate and encourage others to do so for them to go back to normality and host big events.
“I would like to ask all artists within the province to push and encourage other artists on the issue of vaccination, we do not know why people do not want to go and vaccinate as this will not only assist them alone but also assist in growing the economy back to its state. As a department we urge that people should go for vaccination, we also ask artists to compose relevant songs which will encourage people to go and vaccinate,” she said.
At the event, Shongwe was joined by MEC for Culture Sports and recreation in Limpopo Thandi Moraka, deputy minister for Trade, Industry and Competition Nomalungelo Gina as well as stakeholders from other private sectors.
