The inaugural Mpumalanga Investment and Mining Conference, held at Middleburg, in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, kicked off on a good note on Thursday 2 October 2025, with the presence of Mpumalanga Premier, Mandla Ndlovu, alongside MEC for DEDT(Department of Economic Development and Tourism), Jesta Sidell, and other distinguished guests.
Held under the theme; “Driving Investment for a Sustainable and Inclusive Economy”, the conference is reportedly a drive to attract investors to the province of Mpumalanga.
MEC Sidell in her welcoming remarks said the conference is a milestone designed to forge new partnerships, unlock new frontiers of economic growth, and create lasting prosperity for all the people of the province.

“A very warm welcome to you all, to the beautiful Province of the Rising Sun, Mpumalanga. It is with great humility that I stand before you today at the inaugural Mpumalanga Investment and Mining Conference.
“ The conference is part of the initiatives of the province to aggressively promote a new development path aimed at greening our economy by promoting investment in renewables and seeking expansions”. MEC Sidell said.
Premier Ndlovu said; “ We are repositioning Mpumalanga as a globally competitive investment hub. The vision is bold, the commitment is unwavering, and the future is being written. I’m glad that the Department(DEDT)does not make pledges, it only makes commitments. And I’m happy that also your good selves, as business people, you are not making pledges, you are making commitments”.

Other speakers and guests included former Mpumalanga Premier and current Chairperson of the NCOP(National Council of Provinces), Refilwe Mtshweni Tsipane, the Minister of Electricity, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, DEDT HOD(Head of Department), Immy Serakalala, Members of the Mpumalanga Executive Council, and other senior provincial government officials and members in the mining industry.
