Spring classes will be held in 167 schools within Mpumalanga that performed below 70% in last year’s national senior examination(NSC).

This move is reportedly viewed by the department of education in Mpumalanga as an attempt to improve learner’s performance for the class of 2023, by reaching the targeted pass rate of 83%.

According to the department, the classes will be held from 2 to 6 October.

” The Spring classes will focus on 11 high enrolment subjects, including English, Mathematics, Physical Science and Life Science. 23000 grade 12 learners are expected to attend these classes in 116 centres throughout the province.

” Learners will be provided with daily nutrition and scholar transport where it is necessary. The aim of the classes is to expose learners to different best performing teachers that will assist learners with identified challenging content and exam guidelines in order to improve,” said the department in a statement.

The MEC for education in Mpumalanga, Bonakele Majuba, will reportedly visit two secondary schools( Hlalakahle and Tholulwazi) under the Dr JS Moroka local municipality on Today to monitor and provide the required support to learners and teachers.
