MEC For Health :Sasekani Manzini

In a bid to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst young people, the MEC for health in Mpumalanga- Sasekani Manzini, alongside deputy minister of health-Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and MMC for sports and recreation from the city of Mbombela-Khanyisa Mahlangu, held the Youth Health Outreach Programme in Mshadza Trust, near White River on Thursday.

The outreach programme is said to be aimed at creating public health awareness targeting young people to take a stand concerning their well-being and access to health care facilities as provided by the department of health.

This also included enlightening young people about sexual reproductive health services, including contraceptives, which are key to preventing sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancies and unsafe termination of pregnancy.

MEC Manzini said that she was pleased with the attendance by young people, including stakeholders such as health partners, civil society, traditional and community leaders, Love Life and Soul City.

” This is your event to remind you to take your health status seriously, stay aware of substances that are harmful to your health, know your health status and focus on your studies for a better future,” said Manzini.

Some of the activities on the day included, drum-marjorettes, aerobics, live performances by local and national artists such as hip-hop superstar Kwesta.
