The community of Balfour is reeling in shock following the death of a 71 year-old father who was allegedly killed by his four children(three daughters and one son)on Saturday 17 August.
The deceased was reportedly found lifeless on a couch by community members at about 11h00 am.
Police spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the victim had multiple visible gunshot wounds when paramedics and police arrived on the scene. He said empty cartridges were also discovered on the scene and the victim was certified dead.
“ Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim previously applied for a Protection Order against his children and it was granted,” said Mdhluli.
He said the four siblings were arrested in Heidelberg, in Gauteng Province, on the same day of the incident.
“ The suspects are expected to appear at the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 20 August, facing a charge of murder,” said Mdhluli
