While several people enjoy the comfort of staying with their families and descent houses it is only tears and sadness for Mkhulu Gijima Tsobolo (57) from Driekopies, in Nkomazi, Mpumalanga as he wishes nothing but follow his ancestors and unite with them.

Mkhulu Tsobolo who stays in a shack made of cardboard has made his cry and plea to good Samaritans to assist him with a house, food and other necessities over the condition he is living at. Speaking to Emsamo News he said at times he could even go day’s without food and has no one to cry to.

“My life is nothing but hell, I at times even wish if one was to call upon death to take them I was going to call it, unfortunately not. I used to own a one-room house, however, as of the cracks on it, I decided to move out and make this cardboard house so I can stay in than bricks to fall on top of me. I have no one to look after me except for me to stay in this house day in and day out and wait for nothing but death to take me, I have nothing left on this earth, I thank some lady who always comes and assist me with food, it isn’t enough but it is better than to stay days without food on my stomach”, he said.

A good Samaritan Nonjabulo Maretsi owner of the Nonjabulo Maretsi Foundation said she wish she can do more unfortunately as her foundation is small and have fewer powers. Maretsi said she assists mkhulu with food and clean water now and again but she is not able to do all this alone as

her foundation is small and has called other good people to intervene and assist her in this journey especially in getting the old man a house.

“The first time I heard about Mkhulu Tsobolo I decided to go and check his situation, however when I reached the place where he stays I was shattered and couldn’t even focus as the place he is at no human being can stay at. My foundation assists people around especially with food, clothes and other necessities. All I am asking for is a good Samaritan to assist us to get mkhulu a house and healthy food as that is all he needs for now and nothing more”, she said.

Department of Social Services Spokesperson, Centie Ngubane said they will intervene as a department on this matter.

“As a department we always make sure that old people are taken care of, we will send Social workers to assess this situation and see where we can assist as a department”, he said.
