Thapelo Morena scored a brace for Bafana

Bafana Bafana recorded a memorable 3-1 win against Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, at a fully-packed Free State stadium on Tuesday evening, 12 June.
Bafana and Stellenbosch FC goal-poacher, Iqraam Rayners, scored the opening goal in record time of 40 seconds, which was a clear indication that the South African team came into the game with a clear mandate to secure a victory.
In a miraculous turn of events, Zimbabwean striker and captain, Tawanda Chirewa, equalised for his team in less than 2 minutes. Chirewa kept the South African defence on its toes for the entire match.
The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, giving both teams a chance to strategies new tactics to secure a victory.

Thapelo Morena scored the second goal for Bafana in the 54th minute and followed up with another goal in the 75th minute, which gave Bafana a comfortable 3-1 victory.
South Africa is second in Group C with seven points, which is a good standing to qualify for the World Cup 2026 tournament scheduled to be held in the United States of America.
