The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has called for tribal authorities to maintain control of their villages by ensuring that all spaza shop businesses operating in their land are registered.

Motsoaledi was speaking during his recent visit to the Mathibela Tribal Council in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, under Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena. Motsoaledi reportedly brought along about 10 mobile Home Affairs office trucks to service the community for the entire week, starting from Monday 13 November.
” I don’t know why they still find this funny in a democracy, maybe it’s people who have not lived in areas of traditional leaders. How come as South Africans we have to report to the traditional leaders and somebody from another country can just arrive in the village and stay there without reporting to them. It can’t be accepted,” said Motsoaledi.
