Police are in hot pursuit of suspects involved in the murder of a 37 year old teacher who is said to be a former secretary of SADTU(South African Democratic Teachers Union) and his friend.
The two victims were reportedly killed execution style at Sukani Trust, outside White River on the evening of Wednesday 15 November.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said both victims had gunshot wounds and were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
” A grey VW Polo was also found on the scene. The vehicle keys were found in one of the deceased’s pocket. Their mobile phones and other items were found in their possession. Six 9mm cartridge cases and one R1 empty cartridge case were found on the scene,” said Brigadier Mohlala.
He added that the deceased teacher was employed at one of the local high schools in Sukani Trust, and that the motive for the killing is unknown.
The incident was condemned by Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commisioner, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela.
” Not only the family members are affected by the brutal murder, but learners who are about to sit for their final examinations will also be psychologically affected and that can have the negative outcomes on their results,” said General Manamela.
