The Environmental Management unit and the Zonda Insila programme under the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs(DARDLEA), led a clean-up campaign in areas within Nkomazi Local Municipality such as kaCembulani, Emandiyeni, Emasakeni, Emahlabatsini, Hlangabani and the Louisville main road.
The department said, in a statement, that the teams were engaged in activities which included clearing illegal dumping sites in residential areas, encouraging residents to stop littering, urging them to utilise designated dumping areas and to use waste as a means to create jobs. In addition, DARDLEA donated trees which were planted at the Louisville Centre.
