The 4th Annual Mpumalanga Career Expo was held at the Mashishing Community Hall in the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality on Thursday 4 September 2025.

The event, led by Mpumalanga MEC for DEDT(Economic Development and Tourism), Jesta Sidell, the Department of Education, as well as various stakeholders, reportedly sought to provide Grade 9,10, and 11 learners, and graduates from across the three District Municipalities of Mpumalanga with a platform to learn more about career opportunities within the tourism industry, as well as a chance to interact with prospective employers.

In her keynote address, MEC Sidell said the Career Expo is hosted as part of Tourism Month celebrations. She added that the National Department of Tourism was also a partner in this year’s Expo.

“ It is with great sense of humility and pride that i am addressing this momentous occasion, where through collaboration, we are shaping and nurturing future leaders. This year, the Mpumalanga Tourism Careers Expo is today celebrating its 4th year.

“ The purpose of the Provincial Tourism Careers Expo is to provide a platform for the sector to create awareness on the available careers and professional opportunities in the tourism industry and give the learners/students opportunities to interact with their potential employers,” said Sidell.

Learners debated on various topics including tourism, hospitality, and consumer studies. The winning learners will reportedly represent Mpumalanga in the National leg of the Expo, to be held in Limpopo Province next month.
